Terra Arte ist ein Kunstprojekt, das von Sandro Scarmiglia als Freigelände für zeitgenössische Skulptur eingerichtet ist. Ziel ist es, einen Dialog zwischen Kunst und Natur anzustiften. Dieses Anliegen rückt heute Situation immer mehr in den Fokus der Künste.
Blera ist bekannt wegen seiner archäologischen Stätten. Ein Anliegen des Projekts ist es deshalb auch, eine Symbiose zwischen zeitgenössischer Kunst und Archäologie anzuregen und so die Möglichkeit zu eröffnen, in eine Raum – Zeit – Begegnung zwischen Antike und Moderne einzutauchen.
Sand und Erde bilden das Ausgangsmaterial für meine Arbeit. Sand ist geologisch gesehen Millionen von Jahren alt. Durchsieben von Erde ist eine Tätigkeit, die hier auch als Metapher verstanden werden kann, denn bei vielen meiner Landart Projekte spielen Wandel, Vergehen und Zeit eine wichtige Rolle.
Waren es anfänglich nur organische Materialien mit einer überschaubaren Lebensdauer, so ist seit 2019 auch Gestein ein Thema. Damit kommt ein ganz anderer Zeitbegriff ins Spiel.
Dieses Thema bearbeite ich in Blera mit armen Materialien, ausgestattet nur mit einem Sieb und einer Schaufel.
Dabei greife ich geologische (Tuff als hier vorherrschendes vulkanisches Gestein, 500.000 Jahre alt) historische (Lucumone: etruskischer Stammesfürst) und kulturelle (etruskische Symbole und Ornamente) Bezüge auf.
Alles zusammen ist dem Thema Vergänglichkeit gewidmet.

C’erano una volta i vulcani che crearono il tufo, questa roccia piroclastica e sedimentaria. Gli Etruschi lo usarono come materiale da costruzione sin dal VII secolo a.C.
C’era una volta il Lucumone – un re vero e proprio, eletto tra i nobili ed insignito di poteri assoluti. Assumendo il ruolo di capo, il re diventava anche il sommo sacerdote. Mediatore tra gli uomini e la divinità, era detentore di poteri magico-religiosi, attribuitigli dagli Aruspici mediante un rituale ben definito.
C’era una volta la cultura etrusca con un tesoro di ornamenti e simboli archetipici.
Questo lavoro si ispira all’arte etrusca, che ritroviamo nell’ambiente storico di TerraArte, nel materiale usato, nella comunità e nel disegno.
Il tutto sottolineato con la musica di Paolo Modugno.
Insomma vorrei creare un incontro tra passato e presente.

Terra Arte is an art project set up by Sandro Scarmiglia as an outdoor area for contemporary sculpture. The aim is to initiate a dialogue between art and nature. In today’s situation, this concern is increasingly becoming the focus of the arts.
Blera is known for its archaeological sites. A concern of the project is therefore also to stimulate a symbiosis between contemporary art and archaeology and thus to open up the possibility of immersing oneself in a space – time – encounter between antiquity and modernity.
Sand and soil form the starting material for my work. Geologically speaking, sand is millions of years old. Sifting through earth is an activity that can also be understood here as a metaphor, because change, decay and time play an important role in many of my Landart projects.
While initially it was only organic materials with a manageable service life, since 2019 rock has also been an issue. This brings a completely different concept of time into play.
I work on this topic in Blera, equipped with a sieve and a shovel, with poor materials.
In doing so, I take up geological (tuff as the predominant volcanic rock here, 500,000 years old) historical (Lucumone: Etruscan tribal prince) and cultural (Etruscan symbols and ornaments) references.
All together is dedicated to the theme of transience.
